DISCUSSION QUESTIONS FOR COMMUNITY GROUP

1.  Share a time time when you felt out of place or unworthy to be part of a group.  Did you eventually get more comfortable?  If so, how?

2.  Review 1 Samuel 20 and the promises that David and Jonathon made to each other.  Why would David be thinking of those promises at the beginning of 2 Samuel 9?

3.  When David asks Ziba of Saul has any descendents (v.3), what do you think was going through Ziba's mind?  What would Mephibosheth have thought as he saw David's men approaching?

4.  In what ways can you relate to Mephibosheth?  Is there a distinction we can make between being "unworthy" and being "worthless"?  How can David's attitude toward Mephibosheth help us better understand God's love for us?

5.  What is the significance of Mephibosheth being invited to always eat at the King's table?

6.  How does the fact that God adopts us as his children take the gospel to an even deeper level?
